King Tiger Tae Kwon Do has been promoting better health to local communities in Korea since 1959. Communities in North Carolina also started experiencing these benefits in 1988.

       King Tiger Tae Kwon Do academy was originally founded in Korea in 1959 by Grandmaster Jung Byung Hwa. By his late twenties, he achieved mastership in Tae Kwon Do and had served extensively in the Korean military- teaching troops hand to hand combat skills through the art of Tae Kwon Do. In the early 1960's Grandmaster Jung extended his teaching to the public and opened the first King Tiger Academy in Seoul, Korea. In 1986, Grand Master Byung S. Lee became the senior instructor of King Tiger TKD school in Seoul, Korea. In 1988, he brought his knowledge and opened up the first King Tiger Tae Kwon Do academy in (Greenville) North Carolina.
